1970s: Labor leader’s influence ends in desert
In winter of 1977, the body of Al Bramlet, the most powerful labor leader in Nevada, was found in the desert west of Mount Potosi by hikers. Bramlet had been shot six times, including once in each ear. Bramlet’s culinary union held sway over much of Nevada’s government at the time.
