Stinging from 2014, the powerful Culinary Workers Union isn’t taking any chances on electing a pro-labor candidate. Besides the 4th District, which more than 21,000 members call home, it hasn’t endorsed in any other race this cycle. The union is going all in for Kihuen, sending out teams every day to knock on doors with a walk piece stating that a vote for Kihuen supports “your culinary family.”
“I’ve been here six years with the union. We’ve not done this kind of work for a down-ticket race,” said Yvanna Cancela, the union’s political director. “We’re at our best when we are in a fight.”
