Culinary Union Holds Rally for Clean Gaming in Nevada

Las Vegas, NV—Members of UNITE HERE’s Culinary Workers and Bartenders unions are holding a rally at Lions Memorial Park to call on state gaming regulators to ensure there is clean gaming in Nevada and it is free of criminal and corrupt elements. Workers will also attend the Nevada Gaming Commission meeting later in the day to ask the commission to review Deutsche Bank’s recent and ongoing legal and regulatory troubles and determine whether the bank is suitable under the state’s strict gaming regulations to own 25 percent of Station Casinos.

What:                   Several hundred expected to rally at Lions Memorial Park.  Workers will also attend the Nevada Gaming Commission meeting to give public comments.

Who:                     At the rally Union members will carry signs “Investigate Deutsche Bank’s stake in Station Casinos Now!” and “Nevada Needs Clean Gaming:  Affiliates of Criminals Should Not Own Casinos.  Keep the Industry Safe!”

When:                  Thursday, November 19, 2015 rally from 9:30am – 10:30am at park. The gaming commission will start at 10 am.

Where:                Clean Gaming Rally at Lions Memorial Park located at the northeast corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and E. Washington Ave.

                                Appearance at Nevada Gaming Commission meeting in hearing room 2450 in the Grant Sawyer Building located at 555 E. Washington Ave.

Culinary Workers Local 226 and Bartenders Local 165, Nevada affiliates of UNITE HERE, represent over 55,000 workers in Las Vegas and Reno, including at most of casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. UNITE HERE represents 270,000 workers in gaming, hotel, and food service industries in North America.
