Sodexo Workers at Palms to Deliver Job Security Petition to Nevada Gaming Commission and Governor Brian Sandoval

What: Petition demanding job security for Sodexo employees at the Palms will be delivered to the Nevada Gaming Commission and Governor Brian Sandoval. Station Casinos, which is buying the Palms, has not promised that Sodexo workers at the Palms will be able to keep their jobs with no loss in seniority or benefits if the new owner decides to take operations of the buffet, coffee shop, main kitchen, and bakery back from Sodexo.  The company has committed to retaining Palms’ employees on the payroll.

Who: Palms and Sodexo employees from Palms Casinos Resort, and supporters from local unions and clergy

When: Thursday, July 28 – 10 a.m. at the Nevada Gaming Commission meeting, and 10:20 a.m. at the Governor’s office.

Where: Grant Sawyer Building, 555 E Washington Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101. The Nevada Gaming Commission meeting will be on the second floor, and the Governor’s office is on the fifth floor.

Hundreds of employees at the Palms Casino, including those working for food service provider Sodexo at the property, have signed a petition to demand that they get to keep their jobs without loss of seniority or benefits when Station Casinos, a subsidiary of Red Rock Resorts, Inc., (NASQAD: RRR), takes over the property. The petition was signed by a majority of workers at the Palms in the Culinary, Bartenders, and Teamsters unions’ bargaining unit.

The petition was delivered to Palms management last week on July 18 and to Station Casinos on July 21.

While Station Casinos has promised in a letter to Palms hourly employees that they will not have to reapply for their jobs and will keep their seniority and benefits when the company takes over, it has not said what will happen to Sodexo employees at the Palms if the company decides to terminate Sodexo and bring back in-house the casino’s coffee shop, buffet, main kitchen, and bakery.
