Support victims of Typhoon Haiyan

Many of our members have family, friends and loved ones who have been affected by the terrible tragedy in the Philippines. The Culinary Union has joined with the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) to support the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, which has left tens of thousands of people struggling in the wake of its devastation.

Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, one of the strongest recorded storms to ever make landfall, devastated the Philippines on November 9th, 2013. In its aftermath, entire cities have been flattened, tens of thousands of people have been left homeless, children have been made orphans, and the livelihoods of countless households have been destroyed. Over 10,000 are feared to be dead in total and streets clogged with debris and bodies have made it difficult for aid and relief services to reach many areas, especially those inhabited by indigenous communities.

To help our brothers and sisters in desperate need, the Culinary will be making a $5,000 donation to Feed the Hungry to provide direct aid to the people in the affected areas. We kindly ask for your generosity and compassion and join us in giving what you can to provide food, water, blankets, medicine, and other relief materials to the Philippines.

Aside from Feed the Hungry, we recommend these other relief-providing organizations:
