Arnold/Jones/Evans Scholarship Fund

Applications for the 2026 Arnold/Jones/Evans Scholarship Fund are now open! Five $2,000 scholarships will be awarded. The deadline to apply is Monday, February 2, 2026.

Requirements to apply:

*Must be a Nevada high school senior in the graduating class of 2026 with a 2.0 or higher GPA.

*Upload unofficial transcripts.

*Student must be planning to attend a college, university, vocational, or trade school.

*One parent must be an active or retired member in good standing of any local union affiliated with the Nevada State AFL-CIO (Culinary Union and Bartenders Union are part of the Nevada State AFL-CIO).

*Statement of your career goals. Please include the name of school you will be attending after high school and your career goals.

*You must write a 1,000 words (minimum) essay answering the prompt below.

The 2026 Arnold/Jones/Evans Scholarship is administered through the Public Education Foundation.

Verification of college enrollment (class schedule) will be required during the summer before check is mailed to the college. Scholarship funds must be applied toward tuition, fees, and other appropriate educational expenses. The funds will be disbursed in equal payments over two semesters. 

The deadline to apply is Monday, February 2, 2026, follow the below application instructions to apply:

*Complete the general application and be sure to select "Yes" to the question, "Is your parent an active or retired member in good standing of any local union affiliated with the Nevada State AFL-CIO?"

*Once complete, all scholarship opportunities you are eligible for will appear, including the 2026 NV AFL-CIO Arnold/Jones/Evans Scholarship.

Do you have experience working in the Las Vegas hospitality industry? You may be eligible to start at 100% pay at your new Culinary and Bartenders Unions job because of the strong standard set by union contract language protections!
 
If you recently got hired at a union property, speak with a shop steward or union organizer to see if you are eligible to receive 100% pay (after your probationary period at your new job) based on your experience in the Las Vegas hospitality industry.
 
If you are eligible, follow these steps to receive the benefit:
Culinary and Bartenders Union members: Call the Culinary Health Fund (CHF) customer service line at (702) 733-9938 and request work-hour verification. Make sure you know your hire date (for the new job) before you call CHF. A letter with proof-of-hours worked will be sent from the CHF to you and your new employer.
 
Non-union workers & Station Casinos workers:
Take the following items (from your past hospitality industry employer) to payroll at your new job to show proof-of-hours worked:
1. Paystub
2. Letter with your name and job classification.
If you have misplaced your paystub or need the letter, call the HR department at your past employer to request a copy.
