According to the poll, 84% of Nevadans favor the creation of a state lottery, and 80% support legislative efforts to establish a Nevada Lottery System.

Additionally, 69% of respondents said they are more likely to vote for candidates who support allowing Nevadans to vote on the lottery.

Ted Pappageorge, Secretary-Treasurer for the Culinary Union, emphasized the importance of legislative action.

"The Nevada Legislature must act now and introduce a bill that would amend the Nevada Constitution to allow a state lottery system to be created, hold hearings in the Assembly and Senate, and pass the legislation so that it can go to the ballot and allow voters to ultimately decide," he said. "Enacting a state lottery is a common-sense solution to help fund youth mental health and public education in our state. Nevadans deserve a chance to vote on this issue - it’s time to let the people decide."

Elsa Roldan, a Culinary Union member and guest room attendant, shared her personal experience with Nevada's mental health services. "For the last decade, I have been dealing with Nevada’s mental health services, and I have seen firsthand how it’s failing our youth," she said. Roldan described the challenges her son faced in accessing timely mental health care and called for increased funding and resources.
