STATEMENT by Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge regarding Red Rock Casino/NLRB case at D.C. Circuit:
Below is a statement in response to the National Labor Relations Board's brief made on Friday, January 31, 2025 to the D.C. Circuit, asking the Court to enforce a NLRB Board decision finding that Red Rock Casino violated federal labor law.
Culinary Union is closely watching as the federal government continues making its case against Red Rock Casino at the DC Circuit and in the on-going ALJ trial against Station Casinos and its properties for their blatant anti-union and anti-worker behavior as part of one of the largest labor law enforcement actions in American history.
Workers are standing up to the company and testifying in the current trial about how the company was union busting and denying their right to organize - we will support them 100% until they receive justice.
We are confident that the federal government will find - just as it did with Red Rock Casino - that Station Casinos has repeatedly violated the law. It is outrageous that a major gaming company continues to operate with impunity in Nevada’s gaming industry, while the Gaming Control Board remains silent on one of its licensees.
The federal government is doing what state regulators refuse to: Holding Station Casinos accountable for its union-busting and illegal actions.
We also look forward to the day when Station Casinos co-owners, Frank Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta, appear at trial after losing their effort to block an NLRB order compelling them to testify. Their testimony will be a significant moment in the case, as top executives are being directly held to account for the company’s unlawful actions. Workers and the public deserve to hear answers from the Fertitta brothers.
