Nevada’s Trump Slump, Vox, America Actually: In this episode of “America, Actually,” host Astead Herndon follows members of the Las Vegas Culinary Workers Union to a series of canvassing events leading up to the midterms. In Nevada, a state that swung right for Trump in 2024, many expected the post-2024 economic landscape to be one filled with economic prosperity and financial relief. But for union members in the hospitality industry, those expectations have crumbled, as many face increasingly challenging consequences of a struggling economy and immigration crackdowns. With people across the country struggling to make ends meet, hotel reservations are down, undocumented workers are afraid to show up for shifts at popular tourism destinations and frustrations about the cost of living persist. In this episode, Herndon speaks with voters who cast a ballot for Trump and identify where promises of a thriving economy fell short. Listen here.
