This year, the Culinary Union is celebrating our 90th anniversary and our proud legacy of winning for working families in Nevada. For nearly a century, Culinary Union has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with workers, transforming Nevada’s largest industry into one where hospitality workers have strong contracts, fair wages, and respect on-the-job. On Thursday, October 9th at 6pm, Culinary Union will host a "POWERFUL HISTORY PANEL: Black Migration & Experience" moderated by Leain Vashon, Vice President of the Culinary Union. POWERFUL HISTORY PANEL: Black Migration & Experience 🗓️ Thursday, October 9, 2025 ⏰ 6:00-7:30pm 🎥 LIVESTREAM: facebook.com/Culinary226 Panelists include: *Ron Gladstone, a kitchen steward and long-time Shop Steward at The D Casino, who participated in 6 months of work-and-walk picketing at The Fitz when he was fighting for a strong union contract in the 1989. *Linda Hunt, a 46-year Culinary Union member and food server at the El Cortez, who moved from Mississippi with her family in 1961 looking for a better life. Assemblymember Linda Hunt proudly serves Nevadans as the representative from Assembly District 17 in North Las Vegas. *Aretha Wilder, a third-generation Nevadan who is a cocktail server and Shop Steward at The Flamingo. As a single mother who is the grand-daughter of a guest room attendant and daughter of a cook, she is an advocate for housing justice, worker's rights, and Neighborhood Stability. *JT Thomas, a 50-year union member who got his start in the hospitality industry as a pot-washer at the Showboat Hotel and Casino and is now on staff at the Culinary Union as a Grievance Director.
