Since June 1, 2018, the Culinary Union has settled new 5-year contracts for 48,000 workers on the Strip and Downtown.
But 2,200 Culinary Union members at The D Casino, Golden Gate, Margaritaville, and Treasure Island are still fighting for their contracts.
This week, workers from The D Casino testified about sexual harassment in their workplace in front of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
“When I finally found the courage to report the sexual harassment, I was shocked by the way The D Casino handled the situation. Instead of taking every precaution to ensure their employees are not sexually harassed by this manager, I was told to worry about myself and not anyone else. I was even asked if I did anything to elicit the sexual harassment from my manager. I felt like I had a target on my back and began experiencing a lot of anxiety at work. In the months that followed, the company unfairly suspended me twice. Ultimately, I was fired.” – Xstal Campbell, former Bartender at The D
“The D Casino’s treatment of Ms. Campbell is shameful and we will not stop fighting until she has justice,” said Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretary Treasurer for the Culinary Union. “At a time when the hospitality and gaming industries are working to ensure workers are protected, The D Casino is continuing to blame the victim. The company needs to do the right thing and ensure their workplace is free from sexual harassment.”

Desde el 1o de junio del 2018, la Unión Culinaria ha obtenido nuevos contratos de 5 años para 48,000 trabajadores del Strip y Downtown.
Pero 2,200 afiliados de la Unión Culinaria en The D, el Golden Gate, Margaritaville, y Treasure Island todavía están luchando por conseguir sus contratos.
Esta semana, trabajadoras del casino The D dieron testimonio frente a la Junta Reguladora del Juego en Nevada sobre el acoso sexual en su lugar de trabajo.
“Cuando finalmente encontré la valentía para denunciar el acoso sexual, quedé en shock por la manera en que manejó la situación el casino The D. En lugar de tomar todas las precauciones para asegurarse de que este gerente no acosara sexualmente a sus empleados, se me dijo que me preocupara de mi misma y de nadie más. Hasta me preguntaron si yo había hecho algo para provocar el acoso sexual de mi gerente. Me sentí como que tenía un blanco en la espalda y empecé a sentir mucha ansiedad en el trabajo. En los siguientes meses, la compañía me suspendió dos veces injustamente. Por último, fui despedida.” – Xstal Campbell, Ex Cantinera en The D
“El trato del casino The D hacia la Sra. Campbell es una vergüenza y no pararemos de luchar hasta que ella tenga justicia,” dijo Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretaria Tesorera de la Unión Culinaria. “En estos tiempos cuando las industrias de hotelería y del juego están trabajado para cerciorarse de que los trabajadores estén protegidos, el casino The D sigue culpando a la víctima. La Compañía necesita hacer lo correcto y asegurarse de que el lugar de trabajo esté libre de acoso sexual.”
